DOS version 3.3

The launch of IBM's new series of microcomputers, IBM Personal System 2 (PS / 2), also initiated the sale of the new version of DOS 3.3 in April 1987.

The DOS descriptions show that it was mainly prepared for the service of the new series of IBM PS / 2 microcomputers. This version of DOS has been adapted to support soft disks (FDD) 3.5 "with capacities of 720KB and 1.44MB.
For the hard disk (HDD) also novelties were prepared. Changed zotal disk partitioning. Now you can create up to 24 logical drives. This allows for easy installation of hard disks with capacities larger than 32MB, even up to 800MB. The hard disk space is as follows: 1x primary partition (Primary) up to 32MB + per extended partition (extended) for 24x logical drives after max. 32MB. This is a big step in this field!
A significant change was also the principle of using national keyboards. Cool!!! The family of KEYBxx programs was dropped by entering one KEYB program using the character code tables contained in the KEYBOARD.SYS file. Other changes can be found on web pages describing the history of DOS - below.

My box with MS-DOS 3.3 is in the German version. It was not opened :) It has space for the system distributor stickers. The inscription indicates that this is:

It is a version on two 5.25 "floppy disks, one containing the MS-DOS 3.3 installation and the other one with the GW-BASIC interpreter. In addition to the sticker in another language, you can read the date D21/06/90.
